WaPOR, remote sensing for water productivity

Partners

The programme on WaPOR, FAO’s portal to monitor Water Productivity through Open-access of Remotely sensed derived data is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and implemented by the FAO.

The main partners are IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education, and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI)

Through an open selection procedure, a FRAME Consortium has been appointed for the development of the input database variables, which are used to calculate water and land productivity. The members of the current consortium are: Vito, eLEAF, the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation at the University of Twente, the University of Twente and the WaterWatch Foundation

The project also works in partnership with WaterPIP (Water Productivity in Practice) to help partner countries improve their water productivity in the agricultural sector using WaPOR.
