Government agencies use WaPOR data for assessing the availability and use of water resources in their countries.

For example, The Government of Rwanda’s strategic development plans emphasize the importance of environment protection, natural resource management and climate change preparedness. Natural Capital Accounts (NCA) are an important resource for tracking progress on socio-economic, environment and natural resource indicators. The Rwanda NCA for Water have been prepared through a collaborative effort of Ministry of Environment and the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda. The Accounts use WaPOR data for assessing the availability and use of water resources in the country.
