Cheick Oumar Ba, Director of the Agricultural and Rural Prospective Initiative (IPAR in its French acronym) explains the importance of creating an enabling environment for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems, and introduces the joint work done with FAO in this regard.

This video features the testimonies of the participants in the learning programme "Creating an enabling environment for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems", whose first face-to-face workshop took place in March 2019 in Dakar. The programme aims at building the capacities of key political leaders to foster more and better investments in agriculture, as per the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS RAI).

This video explains the importance of responsible investment in agriculture and food systems to achieve Sustainable Development Goals, and in particular SDG 2 “Zero hunger”. Given their law-making and oversight roles, Parliamentarians and their advisors are key in promoting an enabling environment for responsible investments. FAO supports them in identifying, reviewing, developing and implementing policies, incentives and legal frameworks that promote responsible investment at country and regional level.
