Regional dialogue about water tenure: FAO reinforces the call for sustainable and resilient water resource management
To address the growing challenges in water resource management in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) held two webinars on 26 & 27 March as part of the Regional Dialogue on Water Tenure process, within the framework of the project Expanding Capacities for Responsible Water Tenure Governance (ScaleWat).
The 85 people who attended the webinar, in their role as FAO representatives, members of technical teams and project partners from 28 Latin American and Caribbean countries, learned about the processes for the Regional Dialogue (2025) and the Global Dialogue on Water Tenure (2026), promoted by the Organization. The space also provided a platform for the exchange of national experiences on water governance, food security, and climate adaptation.
The webinars mark the beginning of a space for socialization and discussion amongst multiple actors that will take place prior to the Regional Dialogue in September 2025, which will yield recommendations, joint positions on water tenure, and stronger alliances to manage this resource.
