Support to 1000 Digital Villages initiative

Main Goal
This product is intended for participating local/national governments to initiate digitization in rural areas (to support the 1000 digital villages global initiative) as a post-COVID-19 recovery measure.
To date, the Project is preparing work plans in Chile, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Cuba, Jamaica and Panama, where the various pilot initiatives will be carried out.
Events held
In this context, the following activities have been carried out:
- Workshop of face-to-face and virtual modality held on November 22, to take steps towards the digitization of family farmers' cooperatives, through pilot plans to be implemented in twelve member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in the framework of FAO's South-South Cooperation: Cooperatives and Digital Transformation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- The technical and exchange workshop for rural digitalization, framed in the forum "1000 Digital Villages", with the participation of the various focal points of the countries to share the progress of the initiative and diagnostic methodologies in the digitization of rural areas. 1000 Digital Villages technical conference and exchange organised by FAO brought together delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean
