Sustainable and circular bioeconomy for food systems transformation

Country support

FAO supports member countries in the development and implementation of national bioeconomy strategies, policies and programmes in line with the Aspirational Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Bioeconomy, agreed upon by the International Sustainable Bioeconomy Working Group (ISBWG) in 2016.  

Namibia

The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) is collaborating with FAO to further develop Namibia’s sustainable and circular bioeconomy strategy.

Uruguay

FAO has been supporting Uruguay since 2018 in the development of its bioeconomy strategy, by setting up a participatory process that involves relevant stakeholders from ministries, research institutes and universities.
