Italy: an interesting social agriculture initiative

:18/12/2018
Agricultural resources such as animals and plants are used for social and therapeutic services, in rural areas.

The social cooperative "Learn-grow-live with farmers" in Bolzano / Bozen was created in 2007 and has more than 100 mothers who offer flexible child care on their farms. They include the direct integration of agricultural resources and the environment as teaching elements for the children. Some of its members also carry out educational activities for school children and others offer assistance to the elderly, in response to the aging local population.

The cooperative intends to expand activities to include people with disabilities, farm holidays with specific care services, gardening and animal therapy.

The cooperative has received support from the European Social Fund
