In Colombia, the primary objective of the TAP-AIS project is to strengthen and contribute to the development of institutional capacities to recognize, support and promote processes and initiatives of agricultural innovation with small and medium scale producers. At a specific level, the project activities promote the creation of an Institutional Network of Innovation Facilitators, the integration of institutional capacity development programs with regional policies according to the current needs of the country and of the agricultural producers, promoting interventions with regional (departmental) planning exercises and with sectoral development policies and instruments. In this same sense, the project aims to strengthen existing associations and institutions (public and private) and will integrate new actions among all the actors of the national innovation system, as a mechanism for the creation or strengthening of initiatives (Innovation Niches) that increase the income of small and medium scale farmers, food security, social and productive inclusion, food and nutritional security and environmental sustainability.
