LEGAL FRAMEWORK AND CONSTITUTIONAL RECOGNITION OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES
This database provides information about the legal frameworks some countries have put in place to address the rights of Indigenous Peoples and their specific needs. Since the recognition of Indigenous Peoples' rights is uneven around the world, this tool aims at providing key data per country such as if it has endorsed the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, adopted ILO Convention 169 or if it has incorporated specific provisions on the right to free, prior and informed consent. It also includes relevant information such as the number of Indigenous Peoples' population and their different peoples. More data for other countries will be inserted in the upcoming months.
