FAO/INFOODS achievements

INFOODS was established in 1984 and has since contributed significantly to increasing the quality and availability of food composition data worldwide.

The achievements include publishing standards, guidelines, tools, databases, scientific articles and reference documents. INFOODS has also assisted countries in their food composition activities, especially in generating, compiling and publishing food composition data. Moreover, it is involved in international training courses and publishes training material. FAO and INFOODS also introduced issues on food composition and biodiversity into international policy and science fora.

The INFOODS work plan for the period 2011 to 2013 was successfully implemented.

A work plan for 2014-1015 was proposed and will be implemented over the next two years.
