IMD celebrated in Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Spain

The cliffs of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell in Spain hosted a celebration of International Mountain Day in La Marina Alta, organized by the group "We love mountains". About 40 people participated in a group excursion, which was coordinated and guided by Club Multiesport Benitatxell. The end of the hike concluded with the Councillor of Environment and Landscape, Jorge Pascual, and the organiser of this annual event, Jesús Reina, sharing a brief presentation on mountains and nature.

It includes a series of concerts between January and April 2022 to be held in different mountain refuges of Andorra. Through music, the White Tour will promote dialogue about culture and the mountain environment.

FAO celebrates International Mountains Day at the summit of Işık Mountain

On 11 December, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Sub-regional Office of Central Asia coordinated the annual celebration of International Mountain Day. This year’s event focused on sustainable mountain tourism under the slogan #MountainsMatter. The aim of the event was to increase awareness of the importance of mountains, highlight existing opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and build alliances that will generate positive change for mountain peoples around the world.

Mountain day celebration by CHINAR

On the occasion of International Mountain Day, the Central Himalayan Institute for Nature and Applied Research (CHINAR) conducted workshops to spread awareness about the conservation of natural and cultural heritage in the Himalayas. A lecture was held for students of the statistics department of Kumaun University Nainital. The day concluded with a hike on Tiffin Top birding trail and a photography competition.
Giripremi hosts IMD celebrations in Pune, India

On 11 December 2021, Giripremi celebrated International Mountain Day on 11 different hills of Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad in India, together with Giripremi’s 11 Everest summitters and veteran mountaineers. Over 1 500 enthusiastic nature lovers, runners, mountaineers and environmentalists participated in the mountain run and mountain walk events on the 11 trails.
