The event is focused at addressing the challenges confronting mountain dwelling communities especially after the Boko Haram insurgency in North East Nigeria. 

Among the issues to tackle are; Livelihoods, sources of water, exploitation of environmental resources, shelter, education, health and the preservation of cultural heritage.

We also need to introduce climate - smart agriculture in all the mountain communities as an effective way to mitigate climate change while guaranteing food security in the North East region of Nigeria.
