The FAO Investment Centre has released a new publication Advancing Agrifood Systems Transformation in Colombia, showcasing insights from a participatory process developed with national and local stakeholders. The approach is part of the Sustainable Agrifood Systems Intelligence (SASI) initiative — a joint effort by the European Union, FAO and Agrinatura, in collaboration with the Government of Colombia.
The publication draws on consultations, data analysis, and local expertise across four diverse sub-national territories — Montes de María, Altiplano Cundiboyacense, Central Nariño, and South Palmira. It presents emerging key challenges and investment opportunities to strengthen sustainability, inclusion, and resilience of agrifood systems (AFS) at the territorial level.
By putting local actors at the centre, the initiative offers insights into how a participatory process can inform policy dialogue and investment planning at decentralized levels in a country. The findings serve as a resource for countries pursuing more inclusive and sustainable AFS transitions.
