IPC side event at the FAO Conference 2025

On the margins of the 44th Session of the FAO Conference (Rome, 28 June – 4 July 2025), the Republic of Congo, in collaboration with the IPC Secretariat, organized on 2 July 2025 a side event entitled “The IPC: a unique platform to advance the silviculture of fast-growing trees for ecosystem services and sustainable development.”

The event gathered high-level speakers and participants, including the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic, the Ambassadors of Congo and Angola, the Deputy Representatives of Brazil and France, and the Director of the FAO Forestry Division.

Discussions highlighted the IPC as a key platform for “modern” forestry, with a strong network fostering cooperation and innovation. The IPC Secretary presented the outcomes of IPC27, and participants recognized the Commission’s role in supporting the upcoming UN Decade of Afforestation and Reforestation (2027–2036).
