Global Record attends IMO's Sub-Committee meeting
The Global Record Programme Coordinator, Ms Alicia Mosteiro, will be among FAO staff to attend and provide more information about the Global Record programme in the upcoming fourth session of the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments (III), being held in London, United Kingdom, later on this month.
The session, held on 25 – 29 September 2017, will include a detailed consideration of the outcome and recommendations of the Third Session of the Joint FAO/IMO Ad Hoc Working Group (JWG) on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, that was also held in London in November 2015.
This month's session intends to bring together flag, port and coastal States to discuss and consider implementation issues, including the analysis of consolidated audit summary reports from the mandatory IMO Member state Audit Scheme.
The Sub-Committee has a key role in casualty analysis and issuing lessons learned from marine incidents. It also receives and analyses port State control data and keeps under review the procedures for port State control.
Guidelines for survey and certification including the survey guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification (HSSC) also come under the remit of this Sub-Committee.
