世界の飢餓撲滅を目指した共同展を大阪・関西万博で開催｜The fight against global hunger takes center stage at Expo 2025 Osaka

横浜ー2025年6月6日から15日にかけて、大阪・関西万博の国連パビリオンにて、「SDG2（飢餓をゼロに）」 達成に向けた取り組みを紹介する展示が行われます。この特別展は、世界の国や地域、各関係機関が、地球規模の課題解決に向けて対話を行う万博のテーマウィーク「食と暮らしの未来」に合わせて、実施されます。

この共同展はローマに拠点をおく３つの国連機関（国際連合食糧農業機関（FAO）、国際農業開発基金（IFAD）、国連世界食糧計画（WFP））が共催。「飢餓をゼロに」を目指して、食料安全保障、持続可能な農業、そして学校給食を含む栄養改善等、各機関による包摂的な農業・食料システムの構築に向けた取り組みを紹介します。

世界の飢餓や栄養不良に立ち向かうには、小規模農家、先住民族、女性、若者に力を与えること、そして包摂的な農業・食料システムが不可欠です。この展示は、それぞれの国や地域が抱える課題や特徴を、視覚を通じて分かりやすく説明します。農場で収穫された作物が食卓に届くまでの農業・食料システムを、イノベーションや投資、そして協力を通じてどのように変革しうるかについて、考える機会を提供します。また気候変動や紛争によって引き起こされる課題についても、それぞれが行動を起こすことで、少しでも飢餓撲滅に貢献できるということを、展示を通じて考察することができます。

会場となる国連パビリオンでは、40近い国連機関が「より良い未来のために団結する（United for a Better Future）」をテーマに、週替わりで活動を紹介しています。また常設展示として国連の80年にわたる歴史を振り返り、持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）の達成に向けた継続的な取り組み、人道危機への対応、そして集団的行動と多国間協力によって実現可能な世界について考察できる内容となっています。

各機関からのメッセージ：

IFAD日本連絡事務所の加藤真理子代表
「飢餓は静かに襲う、目に見えない危機であり、飢きんに至らない限り、めったにトップニュースになりません。世界は全人類に十分な食料を生産しているにもかかわらず、飢餓は人々の命を日々奪い続けています。適切な投資、特に開発途上国の小規模食料生産者への投資によって、世界の飢餓は解決できます。皮肉にも、世界の食料の3分の1を生産している小規模食料生産者は飢餓に苦しんでいます」。

「『飢餓をゼロに』を達成するには、世界の農業・食料システムを、より効率的で、包摂的で、持続可能なものに変革する必要があります。これにより、誰一人取り残すことなく、４つのベター（より良い生産、より良い栄養、より良い環境、より良い生活）を達成することができるのです」。

「急性飢餓は6年連続で増加し、最も深刻な段階である壊滅的飢餓に直面している人の数は2倍以上に増えています。分断と混乱に満ちた今日の世界では、アクセスの制限や資金不足がゼロ・ハンガー達成の努力を妨げ、危機をさらに悪化させています。この展示を通じて、できるだけ多くの訪問者が世界の飢餓を共有すべき責任と認識し、連帯の精神で関わっていただけることを願っています」。

FAO（国連食糧農業機関）
FAOは飢餓を撲滅するための国際的な取り組みを主導する国連の専門機関です。FAOの目的は、人々が健全で活発な生活を送るために十分な量・質の食料への定期的アクセスを確保し、すべての人々の食料安全保障を達成することです。FAOには194カ国と欧州連合（EU）の195のメンバーが加盟しており、世界130カ国以上で活動しています。FAO駐日連絡事務所は、1997年に横浜市の横浜国際協力センター（パシフィコ横浜）内に開設されました。

IFAD（国際農業開発基金）
IFADは国連の専門機関であり国際金融機関でもあります。ローマに本部を置き、世界40カ所の事務所を通じて農村の人々に投資し、貧困削減、食料安全保障の向上、栄養改善、強靭性強化を支援しています。IFADは世界の経済的に最も貧しい国々における農業、気候適応、農村開発への資金提供で最大規模の機関の一つです。1978年以来、開発途上国のプロジェクトに250億ドル以上の助成金と低利融資を提供してきました。IFAD日本連絡事務所は2021年11月に横浜市の横浜国際協力センター（パシフィコ横浜）内にアジアで初めて設立されました。

WFP（国連世界食糧計画）
国連世界食糧計画は、緊急時に命を救う世界最大の人道支援機関であり、紛争や災害、気候変動の影響から回復する人々に対し、食料支援を通じて平和、安定、繁栄への道を築いています。

The fight against global hunger takes center stage at Expo 2025 Osaka

From 6 to 15 June 2025, UN Agencies FAO, IFAD, and WFP showcase efforts toward achieving SDG2 “Zero Hunger” in UN Pavilion

Yokohama – The exhibition "Together for SDG2 – Zero Hunger,"  will run from 6 to 15 June 2025, in line with the Expo’s thematic week on “Necessities of Life: Food, Clothing and Shelter.”

This special exhibition is part of the broader UN Pavilion, themed “United for a Better Future,” which features the work of 35 UN entities and 15 Secretariat departments and offices. The Pavilion explores eight decades of UN impact, ongoing efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), responses to humanitarian crises, and a vision for a better world made possible through collective action and multilateral collaboration.

Together, three United Nations Rome-based Agencies (RBAs), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP) offer an exhibition related to inclusive agrifood systems that promote food security, sustainable agriculture, and improved nutrition, including through school meals. 

This collaborative initiative underscores the shared commitment of the participating agencies to promoting food security, sustainable agriculture, and improved nutrition. The exhibition demonstrates that inclusive agrifood systems are essential to addressing global hunger and malnutrition, while also empowering smallholder farmers, Indigenous Peoples, women, and youth.

Visitors are invited to explore how innovation, investment, and collaboration can transform agrifood systems from farm to table. Through real-life examples from the field and engaging visuals, the exhibition also aims to inspire action—highlighting that building resilient and inclusive agrifood systems is not only possible, but essential for a better future for both people and the planet.

“Hunger  often remains a silent, invisible crisis. It rarely makes the headlines unless it becomes famine. Yet it continues to devastate lives every day, even though the world produces enough food for everyone. We can solve global hunger with the right investments, especially in small-scale food producers in developing countries, many of whom paradoxically suffer from hunger,” said Mariko Kato, Representative of the IFAD Liaison Office in Japan.

“In  order to achieve Zero Hunger, we need to transform global agrifood systems to be more efficient, more inclusive, more resilient and more sustainable. That way, we can achieve the Four Betters – better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind,” said Eriko Hibi, Director of the FAO Liaison Office in Japan.

“Acute hunger has increased for six consecutive years, with the number of people facing the most severe level—catastrophic hunger—more than doubling. In today’s world marked by division and turmoil, efforts to achieve zero hunger are being hindered by limited access and funding shortfalls, further worsening the crisis. I hope this exhibition encourages as many visitors as possible to recognize global hunger as a shared responsibility and to engage with it in a spirit of solidarity,” said Yasuhiro Tsumura, Director of the WFP in Japan.

FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. FAO’s goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 195 members - 194 countries and the European Union, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide. FAO Liaison Office in Japan was established in 1997 within Yokohama International Cooperation Centre (Pacifico Yokohama) in Yokohama City.

IFAD
IFAD is a United Nations specialized agency and an international financial institution. With headquarters in Rome – the UN food and agriculture hub – and 40 offices across the world, IFAD invests in rural people empowering them to reduce poverty, increase food security, improve nutrition and strengthen resilience.
