ISRIC Soil Data Hub

The ISRIC Soil Data Hub is a central location for searching and downloading ISRIC’s soil data layers from around the world. It contains geo-referenced soil data, including soil profiles and individual soil attributes.

The Soil Hub provides access to the WoSIS Soil Profile Database, which currently contains some 100,000 geo-referenced, standardised point data, corresponding with over 5 million soil records, contributed by a wide range of data providers. The number of measured data for each property varies between profiles and with depth. Generally there are fewer data for soil physical as opposed to soil chemical attributes, and for deeper than for surficial horizons.

In order to make these data useful for digital soil mapping they were subjected to harmonization procedures, with special attention to the selection of soil analytical and physical properties (such as organic carbon, soil pH, soil texture, coarse fragments, cation exchange capacity, electrical conductivity, bulk density, and water holding capacity) considered in the GlobalSoilMap specifications. Since the source data have been described, sampled, and analysed according to methods and standards in use in the originating countries, harmonization methods focused in particular on soil data quality assessment and the standardisation of soil property definitions, soil property values, and soil analytical method descriptions.
