The FAO’s Land and Water Division, together with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division, is launching a joint prize category on "Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for food security".

The prize category aims to advance youth-led innovations that promote inclusive and integrated water management and governance for farming and fishing communities and foster scalable and science-based solutions that address environmental, social and economic challenges in water management.

Winning teams will receive up to USD 10 000 in research funding to implement their research projects. In addition, one team will be selected from the winners of each prize category as the overall winner of the 2025 Transformative Research Challenge and will be awarded an additional USD 10 000 in research funding.

Applications are open until 16 May 2025.
