New project website: Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

Small-scale irrigation and other forms of agricultural water management are critical in building resilience to increased climate variability. This project aims at improving the sustainability and adaptation of small-scale irrigation systems to climate change in the West and Central Africa region. After a first analysis that describes climate change implications on irrigated agriculture and the irrigation technologies and best practices adapted to climate shocks that are valuable to be scaled up, the project focuses now on examining in detail the impact of climate change on irrigation systems in four pilot countries: Gambia, Ivory Coast, Mali and Niger. It will also highlight the required investments for adapting small-scale irrigation and will propose the measures to design and manage small-scale irrigation schemes adapted to climate change.
