The National Assembly and National Commission on Human Rights of France

On the official invitation of members of the Assemblée nationale and of the Commission Nationale Consultative des Droits de l’Homme (CNCDH), the FAO Development Law Service (LEGN) will participate in several events from June 23rd to 25th to further advance the realization of the right to adequate food in France.
The invitations fall within a broad ongoing initiative to legislate the right to adequate food, which has the support of over 100 members of parliament from eight different political parties. On the 23rd, an audition in front of the CNCDH will take place to share experience and explain the usefulness of a framework law on the right to adequate food. On the 24th, a working session at the Assemblée nationale will bring together many of its members to discuss the basis to create a national parliamentary alliance on the right to food while delving into insights to legislate on the right to adequate food, primarily touching on the modalities and features of a framework law. On the 25th, a field visit in the 18ème arrondissement will take place to meet and discuss with local actors who give life to the daily realization of the right to adequate food in one of the city’s neighbourhoods.
