The inaugural 2022 FAO Law Lecture
Legal reflections on “Leave no one behind. Better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life”
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is launching a new series of annual Law Lectures, to serve as a forum in which legal practitioners and scholars can discuss and reflect on the role different fields of international law play in relation to nutrition, food and agriculture. The FAO Law Lectures will form part of a series of events commemorating World Food Day to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. This year’s World Food Day theme is “Leave No One Behind”, and the 2022 FAO Law Lecture will explore legal perspectives related to this theme.
The 2022 FAO Law Lecture will be delivered on 31 October 2022 at 14:00 CET by Professor Philippe Sands KC, Professor and Director of the Centre on International Courts and Tribunals at University College, London, and a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School. Professor Sands also appears regularly before international courts and dispute settlement organs. His legal expertise covers diverse legal matters, including environmental disputes, maritime boundary disputes, natural resource claims, and human rights. Professor Sands is also a prize-winning author of non-legal books.
