The situation was still classified as cautious for Moroccan (DMA), Italian (CIT) and Asian Migratory Locusts (LMI) in the Russian Federation and for CIT in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, since the risk of invading agricultural fields by adult locusts was still present. It was calm for other species and for other countries. Control operations in August covered an area of 44 373 hectares (ha) in Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA), reaching 1.94 million ha since the beginning of the 2022 campaign, which is similar to 2021 (1.93 million ha). During the forecast period, CIT and LMI natural life cycles will come to an end.
