DescriptionDirected Chinas state-owned enterprises to resume purchases of US soybeans, following the start of a new round of trade talks with the United States.
Notesal measures to mitigate the impact of its retaliatory import tariff on U.S. soybeans on the domestic market (see also MPPU Dec.18). Following the start of a new round of trade talks with the United States (aimed at resolving the two countries controversies by 1 March 2019), Chinas state-owned enterprises have been directed to resume purchases of U.S. soybeans. To date, acquisitions of around 2.3 million tonnes have been confirmed. Commercial U.S. soybean imports, however, remained nil, given that Chinas 25 percent retaliatory import tariff remained in place.
