DescriptionLowered tariffs on beef imports from European Union (EU) member countries under the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), effective 1 February 2019. Under the new tariff structure, Japan granted reduced tariff rates from 1 April 2019 on pig meat imports from EU member countries, and allowed imports to fill the domestic supply gap and rebuild stocks when necessary.
