FAO "ACT" project participated in the "Veterinary Forum of Gobi and Western Regions -2022"

The Mongolian Veterinary Medical Association successfully organized the "Gobi Region’s Veterinary Forum-2022" on August 2-3, 2022, in Bayankhongor aimag and the "Western Regional Veterinary Forum -2022" on August 6-7, 2022 in Zavkhan aimag.

The forum was financially supported by the FAO project " Implementation of codex standards to support containment and reduction of foodborne antimicrobial resistance (ACT)". At the forum, a broad discussion was held on the following topics: the implementation of the law on livestock and animal health, and the engagement of the animal health sector in food security and safety.

The project consultant introduced “a goals and activities of the FAO-ACT project” to the participants of the forum. The ACT project also presented specific information on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), it’s risks and ways of prevention, prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials in animals, prevention of veterinary drug residues, and the introduction and implementation of good practices.

At the same time, in order to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of the participating veterinarians, a brief survey was conducted in the area of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and antimicrobial drug (AMU) use. The Mongolian version of the poster issued by FAO on the prudent and responsible use of antibiotics in livestock and animals was distributed to the forum participants.
