Mountain events at UNFCCC COP26

The United Kingdom in partnership with Italy will host the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021. The following events are being organized within the framework of the Mountain Partnership:
- Transforming our world: Children's voices for 2050
Thursday, 4 November 2021 at 09.00-17.00 GMT
This day-long event hosted by the Zero Water Day Partnership will focus on empowering children and youth through education to be the main actors of change in addressing climate change, especially regarding their role in water and mountain ecosystem conservation. The final session will feature the launch of the call to action “Mountains: the water towers of our world – Children’s call to action to protect mountain areas against the impacts of climate change”. We invite you to add your name to the call to action to show your support for this initiative and the voices of children around the world, their hopes, dreams and ideas for the future.

- Sustainable mountain tourism and food systems to support recovery from COVID-19 in mountains
Friday, 5 November 2021 at 18.30-19.45 GMT
This side event will discuss the role of sustainable tourism and natural resource management for climate change adaptation in mountain regions. Speakers will present concrete experiences of mountain communities’ recovery from the COVID-19 crisis and recommendations for long-term sustainable recovery.

- Climate change, mountains and the future of humanity
Thursday, 11 November 2021 at 13.15-14.30 GMT
The event will focus on partnerships and collaboration for building back better from COVID-19 in mountains. It will focus on the role of multi-stakeholder platforms established by governments and NGOs to address issues of international significance.
