Reaching for the stars: Sustainable and climate resilient mountain developmentDubai, UAE
From: 07.10.2021 to: 07.10.2021Now more than ever, as the climate crisis progresses, there is a need to empower vulnerable mountain communities who are often left behind in policy-making and agenda-setting, despite being among the most affected and the least responsible for such a crisis. Co-curated by Italy, the Mountain Partnership Secretariat and the Aga Khan Development Network, this one-of-a-kind event during Climate and Biodiversity Week at Expo 2020 Dubai will bring together mountain practitioners, policymakers, scientists, the private sector and grassroots actors to share local knowledge and best practices in enhancing the resilience of mountain communities, livelihoods and ecosystems, and to galvanize action, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Speakers will engage on how mountains make life possible; the unique fragility of mountains; mountain people and their livelihoods; and the policies that need action on. The event will feature voices from the Andes, Hindu Kush, Alps and Pamirs that shed light on the innovative work being undertaken to tackle the impact of climate change.
