3rd Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference

The outgoing 2023 was a remarkable year in the realm of water sustainability. The Dushanbe Water Process has made significant contributions to the global water domain, particularly in the success of the UN 2023 Water Conference co-hosted by Tajikistan and the Netherlands in New York. This conference resulted in the development of more than 800 voluntary commitments registered in the Water Action Agenda.

In the short period following the Conference, numerous positive developments have emerged with water. Inspired by the outstanding outcomes of the UN 2023 Water Conference, the UNGA adopted a Resolution on the follow-up of the conference calling for the development of a UN system-wide strategy on water and sanitation and conducting the next two United Nations Water Conferences in 2026 and 2028.
