Mountains and water - from understanding to action

Lima, Peru
From: 11.12.2014 to: 11.12.2014

To mark International Mountain Day (11 December), this event will bring attention to the role, challenges and opportunities of mountains as the water towers of the world in a changing climate. The lunch-hour (1.15-2.45pm) gathering will allow for discussions of sustainable mountain ecosystems and water management.

Organized by the governments of Bhutan, Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, The Mountain Institute and the Mountain Partnership, the side event will feature several speakers and a discussion.

The event will take place alongside the 20th session of the Conference of Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that will run from 1 to 12 December 2014. COP is the supreme decision-making body of the Convention, where the States that are Parties to the Convention review the implementation of the Convention.
