Spotlighting development solutions that have demonstrated impacts for sustainable mountain development

Dubai, UAE
From: 11.12.2021 to: 11.12.2021

This session at Expo 2020 Dubai in celebration of International Mountain Day will highlight the actions of governments in collaboration with the Mountain Partnership to build the resilience of mountain peoples and protect mountain ecosystems and their biodiversity.

International Mountain Day is celebrated around the world every year on 11 December. The day is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of mountains, to highlight opportunities and challenges in mountain development, and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain peoples and environments around the world.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the lead United Nations coordinating agency for the observance of International Mountain Day. FAO is also the host of the Secretariat of the Mountain Partnership, the only United Nations alliance of partners dedicated to mountains and mountain peoples. Founded in 2002, the Mountain Partnership has over 430 members to date, including governments, intergovernmental organisations, and civil society.

'Spotlighting development solutions that have demonstrated impacts for sustainable mountain development' will be held from 15.00 to 16.00 (Dubai time) on Saturday, 11 December – streaming details coming soon.
