Members of the Mountain Partnership are invited to attend the Mountain Partnership Global Meeting, which will be held at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters on 11-13 December 2017, in conjunction with the International Mountain Day. The Global Meeting will be followed by a two-day training course on the Mountain Green Cover Index on 14-15 December 2017.

Jointly organized by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, FAO and the Government of Italy, the Mountain Partnership Global Meeting aims to place the sustainability and resilience of mountain ecosystems and communities at the centre of international processes, policies and investments of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Under the main theme “Mountains under pressure: climate, hunger, migration”, the Global Meeting will focus on the challenges and the opportunities in sustainable mountain development and will launch a political process to support concrete actions and establish policies that strengthen the resilience of mountain peoples and environments. It will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Mountain Partnership and of the International Mountain Day.

The Global Meeting will be conducted in English, French, Russian and Spanish and will open at 09.00 hours on Monday 11 December with the political segment and will be followed by two days of technical discussion.
