Symposium on Oman Mountains: Environment & Agriculture

Building on the 2008 Mountains of the World Conference, Sultan Qaboos University is organizing a symposium on mountains of Oman aiming to bring together scientists, development practitioners, policy makers working on the mountain issues to deliberate on the future of mountain ecosystems in Oman.

The symposium will present research findings from the two joint research initiatives on mountains ecosystems conducted by Center for Environmental Studies & Research (CESAR) of the Sultan Qaboos University in collaboration with three German universities.

The speakers of the symposium will cover wide range of topics related to Oman mountains such as Sustainability of Omani Oases, Nutrient Flows in Irrigated Agriculture, Plant Biodiversity, Animal Husbandry, Water Resources etc.

Open to researchers, policy makers and anyone interested in mountain environment and agriculture of the Arabian Peninsula, the symposium, presented in English, will also include a limited fee weaver for early registrations.
