The International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) is the exclusive international umbrella federation for mountain guide associations. It governs its members, establishes standards of training and certification, and serves as the sole licensing body for mountain guides around the world. IFMGA is also the only established organization that supports the training of mountain guides internationally. The profession of mountain guiding has been established in the European Alps for over 200 years and, over the past century, has branched out as a recognized and valued professional practice throughout the world. IFMGA’s work promotes the practice and sustainability of the mountain guide craft and profession in 26 countries. |
