Bethany Society

Bethany Society is a non-profit organization established in Mendal, East Garo Hills, Meghalaya, India in 1981. The organization creates opportunities for people with disabilities and the rural poor through inclusive education, sustainable livelihoods, and social inclusion. The organization believes that everyone in this world is born with rights and responsibilities and, if given an equitable opportunity and empowering environment, everyone has a valuable contribution to make in society.  Bethany Society promotes the inclusion of all members of the society, where no one is left behind.

Another focus is promoting stewardship towards the earth through sustainable and environment-friendly livelihoods. The organization’s inclusive philosophy is captured and reflected by the phrase: “We segregate only garbage”.
