Association for International Solidarity in Asia

ASIA (Association for International Solidarity in Asia) was founded in Italy in 1988 by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, former Professor of Tibetan Language and Literature at Naples University “L’Orientale”. ASIA is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and formally became a Non-profit Social Organization in 1998. 

ASIA is active in many countries in Asia (Tibet, India, Nepal, Myanmar e SriLanka) and is present and rooted in all regions of China having inhabitants from Tibetan ethnic (Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and the Tibetan Autonomous Region). For 30 years ASIA has been engaged in safeguarding historical and cultural heritage, food security, health, livestock, livelihood, education and preservation of cultural identity in Tibet. Since 2009, the Association promotes development projects in Nepal, in Himalayan area, to safeguard historical and cultural heritage, to improve food security, health and environment; to reduce climate change effects through agroforestry and livestock actions; to develop livelihood and income generating activities; to strengthen education and cultural identity of indigenous people. After the earthquake in 2015, ASIA intervened with a rapid response to the catastrophe implementing emergency and post-emergency projects. In Mongolia and Myanmar, ASIA implements veterinary and sustainable environment programmes.
