Cross River State Government through its representative, the Commissioner in charge of the State Ministry of International Development Cooperation provides overall coordination and oversight in the implementation and management of donor assisted programmes and projects. In particular, in collaboration with the State Planning Commission, it identifies key priorities of the state as articulated in state development plans, sectoral policies, strategic initiatives, and ensures assistance fits into the Development Agenda/Priorities of the state. Moreover, it takes the lead in all engagements, negotiations and consultations with the Federal Government. It is currently working on the provision of a broad number of standardized approaches to better understand the interactions between nature and human wellbeing; it supports initiatives that clarify how the various natural capital approaches overlap and combine; and produces materials that support the inclusion of nature in public and private decisions. Finally, it facilitates and promotes the mainstreaming of vulnerable and marginalized populations within mountain communities into government conservation priorities for economic empowerment and food security. |
