The Resilience Institute (TRI)

Based in Canmore, in the Rocky Mountains of Canada, The Resilience Institute (also known as The Rockies Institute), focuses on collaborations with rural and Indigenous Peoples, and people living in mountain and northern communities, which are particularly vulnerable to climate change symptoms. Our program model is “learning while doing” to build resilience to climate impacts. We engage transdisciplinary teams of experts on multi-year initiatives that address complex and wicked problems by weaving Indigenous and scientific knowledge systems. Many of the initiatives take a thematic approach for engaging multiple generations in learning, for example through the Art of Climate Change Fire & Ice program on wildland fire and glaciers, or the Fire With Fire participatory video initiative that build nationhood and capacity to address wildfire danger with Indigenous knowledge.
