The Elgon Wildlife Conservation Organization (EWCO) is a grassroots NGO whose mission is to promote biodiversity and wildlife conservation through community engagement, recognizing the importance of engaging people in protecting wildlife while supporting sustainable development using a holistic and multi-disciplinary One Health approach. Its thematic areas include wildlife research and conservation, community empowerment and education, and anti-poaching and management. EWCO works to maintain the delicate balance between the environment, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in mountain indigenous communities surrounding Uganda's protected areas. |
