International Conference on Green Economy and Sustainable Mountain Development

The International Conference on Green Economy and Sustainable Mountain Development – Opportunities and Challenges in View of Rio+20 will be held from 5-7 September in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is a collaborative initiative of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to bring together international, regional and national experts together with policy makers to discuss the relevance and scope of Green Economy in the context of sustainable mountain development. The conference will seek strategies, approaches and options for enhancing the role and prominence of mountain systems in regional and international debates and discussions. The outputs will feed into the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), also known as the Earth Summit 2012 or Rio+20.
