Call for participation, mountain women of the world survey

29.06.2022

The Mountain Women of the World: Challenges, Resilience and Collective Power research project is a collective and participatory research initiative to map and surface the multiple, diverse challenges faced by mountain women across different contexts and geographies of the world. This research is especially important considering the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this survey will be transformed into a report which will aim to highlight and foreground the multiple and inspiring ways in which mountain women have strengthened their resilience, solidarity and collective power.

We define mountain women as people who self-identify as women and who live and/or work in the mountainous areas. For example, women who live in the mountains and/or do activities in the mountains like farming or handicrafts, women who work in mountain tourism or that are, guides, porters, cooks, etc. The research findings will be elaborated to shape a report to be published on 11 December, International Mountain Day 2022.

The survey is available in four languages (English, French, Portuguese and Spanish):

The deadline for survey submissions is 1 August 2022.

The research project is a partnership between the Mountain Women of the World network and the Mountain Partnership (MP). Mountain Women of the World is a collaborative network founded in 2020 by organizations such as Empowering Women of Nepal, Kilimanjaro Women, las Cholitas Escaladoras de Bolivia and Women Who Hike-Africa. MP members Feminist Hiking CollectiveTopchu Art Groupfrom Kyrgyzstan and Mujeres a la Cumbre are also founders.
