Dr Poul Engberg-Pedersen appointed new IUCN Deputy Director General


Dr Poul Engberg-Pedersen has been nominated IUCN Deputy Director General and he will join IUCN on 16 May 2011. During 2005-2010, Poul Engberg-Pedersen was Director General of Norad, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked for the United Nations in Africa and for the World Bank. He also headed a Danish government research centre and worked on development and environmental management and development effectiveness for a Danish consultancy company. Poul Engberg-Pedersen is a 57 years-old Danish citizen with a PhD in political science and development studies.
