Shared learning session: study tour of Kyrgyz women group to India

14.05.2012

When the Mountain Partnership Central Asia Hub (MPCA) hub was approached by a group of women-entrepreneurs inspired by their 10-day visit to India telling us of their need in sharing their experience and new knowledge, we welcomed the idea by offering one of our knowledge sharing platforms as SLS “Shared Learning Session” held regularly for MP members at the University of Central Asia and its Mountain Societies Research Centre, our host institution.

The event was organized by Mountain Partnership Central Asia Hub, jointly with ‘Agency of Development Initiatives’ (ADI) and the ‘Community Development Alliance’ (CDA), the Mountain Partnership members- local NGOs active in rural development of Kyrgyzstan on April 9, 2012.

To many of the attendees, the Indian experience in marketing that supports SME (small & medium enterprise)  development and rural employment generation has been of much interest as the marketing remains the weakest point in the value-chain cycle for Kyrgyz small producers and self-employed entrepreneurs.

The main goal of the session was to share and disseminate Indian experience of self-reliance and self-employment; and organization of marketing aspects to the widest as possible audience in Kyrgyzstan.

Also the session resulted in narrative report sharing main outputs of the discussion, in order to further disseminate the cases of good practices among Mountain Partnership members, other mountain stakeholders and communities.
