The Mountain Pavilion is conceived as a global initiative and the Mountain Partnership has mobilized its members and mountain stakeholders from all regions of the world to showcase their work in contribution to sustainable development.

The event programme is articulated along five thematic areas. Together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Mountain Partnership Secretariat is responsible for Theme 4: Food Security, Food Sovereignty and Gender.

The event format includes a high-level opening, a high-level meeting with representatives of mountainous countries and heads of delegations, a video message released by world renowned mountaineer Rheinold Messner who is our first mountain ambassador, keynote speakers, the launch of thematic videos, panel discussions, coffee and lunch breaks and cocktail receptions.
