Ecosystem-based adaptation in mountains

UNDP in partnership with several organizations including Mountain Partnership members is implementing the project pilot activities in Tanta, a mountain town in Peru situated within the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve under the global Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) in Mountains Programme.Vicuña management, associated with a sustainable management of livestock, is one of the EbA measures applied in this area. These practices promote the production of animal fibers and the restoration of natural pastures and wetlands by preventing soil erosion and contributing to water regulation. The measures also generate income for the local community.
