Keeping an Eye on SDG 15

This publication presents the three forest-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators for which the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the custodian agency, including SDG indicator 15.4.2, the Mountain Green Cover Index. It contains 3-4 pages for each indicator, covering the following: a) context of goal and target, definition and policy relevance of the indicator; b) current data availability and the method of collecting, compiling and computing new data; c) reporting data, interpreting results and expected impact; d) limitations, if any, related to the indicator; e) potential partnerships and the ways to strengthen collaboration between agencies for the above; and f) reference on how the data collection for these indicators relate to the NSOs. Additionally, 3-4 pages showcase the tools that support countries in their reporting on these three indicators, including the new online portal for reporting to FRA, OpenForis and the SEPAL platform.
