FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa

The World Food Forum- Near East Chapter

Al Ain (United Arab Emirates), 22/04/2026

The World Food Forum (WFF) Regional Chapter for the Near East and North Africa (NENA), organized in conjunction with the FAO Regional Conference for the Near East (NERC), will provide a dedicated regional platform to advance agrifood systems transformation through innovation. Aligned with FAO’s 2026–27 Biennial Theme, Fostering Innovation for Food Security, the Regional Chapter will adapt the global WFF framework to the regional context, grounding global priorities in NENA-specific challenges, opportunities, and investment needs.
In a region facing growing pressures from climate change, water scarcity, land degradation, and food insecurity, the Regional Chapter will highlight how digital, AI-enabled, geospatial, and social innovations, combined with inclusive and people-centred approaches, can strengthen food security, resilience, and sustainability. Organized in close coordination with a partner-led UAE event in Al Ain, the Regional Chapter will amplify youth and community voices, strengthen linkages between science, policy, and finance, and generate regionally grounded inputs to inform global WFF and FAO processes.
