This flagship publication is the first edition of the State of Land and Water Resources for Food and Agriculture (SOLAW) for the Near East and North African (NENA) countries prepared by the FAO/RNE.  

The report presents and analyses current challenges facing land and water management in the region as the main two natural resources central to agriculture and rural development; as well as opportunities to enhance their vital role in ensuring food security under additional constrains of increasing population, climate change,  conflicts and migration. 

The SOLAW/NENA report raise awareness about value of the precious limited water and land resources of the region; and provides pointers for policy makers on the need to support transition to a new paradigm that maximizes opportunities and mitigates risks, to attain sustainable food security and achieve SDGs.
