The FAO Water Platform is an internal coordination mechanism to better address water-related issues across the Strategic Objectives and Organizational structure.
Recognizing that various FAO activities and organizational units have water-related issues as significant aspects of their work, the Platform would be designed to meet a number of objectives:
Recognizing that various FAO activities and organizational units have water-related issues as significant aspects of their work, the Platform would be designed to meet a number of objectives:
- to provide internal coordination;
- to ensure programmatic coherence; and
- to develop, based on these first two objectives, a strategic vision for water to be projected to member countries, to public and partner organizations in the UN system, international financial institutions (IFIs), the CGIAR and international water and environmental NGOs—defining the basis for FAO's contribution to the wider international agenda.
