The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, with the support of the Government of Italy, are organizing the inception Workshop of the Project “Improving household food and nutrition security in Egypt by Targeting Women and Youth”. The project, which builds upon a consolidated collaboration in the sector between the three parties, is a timely action to mitigate the effects of food insecurity and malnutrition on the most vulnerable groups in Egypt, namely women and youth.

The workshop will be held on the 10th of January and will be opened by H.E. Dr. Salah Abdul Momen – Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Moujahed Achouri – Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Egypt and Ms. Ginevra Letizia – Director of the Italian Cooperation for Development in Egypt.

The workshop will bring together experts, key stakeholders and civil society organizations who will deliberate on and share key challenges, lessons learnt and best practices developed in the field of food and nutrition security in Egypt.

The event will represent an important opportunity to review and analyse on going and past interventions related to food and nutrition security at national level and will allow the newly launched project to build and capitalize on them.
