The Regional office for the Near East of the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/RNE) in collaboration with the Undersecretariat for Afforestation & Environment (UAE) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation will organize a national experts’ consultation on 5 – 6 September 2007 at the Centre for Management Development (CMD) at Kanater El-Khairyia. 

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the forestry policy legislation and institutions in Egypt and how it interlinks with the agricultural livestock and environmental protection. 

The meeting will be attended by the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and Livestock Departments at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, as well as “Ahebaa Misr Association”, which is an environmental-specialized NGO. 

This meeting will serve to prepare the ground for the start of a technical assistance project on forest policy formulation that has been approved between FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
